Simon Archer Profile
Simon Archer from Formby, Merseyside, started out as a landscaper before returning to university to study fine art. Since 1996 he has exhibited in galleries across the UK – sculpting in stone, metal and animal bones! Over the years he found himself being drawn back to using wood and now “prefers working in the elements to being in a studio!” He has produced pieces for various public sites, most recently at the National Trust in Formby for their Asparagus Trail.
Over the last 3 years, he has competed in several chainsaw competitions including the Scottish Open Carving Competition and Woodfest Wales. As a member of Southport Contemporary Arts, he’s done chainsaw demonstrations for the Arts Trail since it began in 2009.
